< BACK TO CONFERENCES

Our two-part summer 2018 conference series was JESUS + The Church: Indispensable Parts. This conference, hosted by NCF’s Multicultural Accessibility Committee (MAC), explored a cross-cultural theology with implications that are sure to enliven the callings of believers in the home, church, and world.

Part I

A Conversation with Rachael Denhollander

May 10, 2018

A devout Christian, lawyer and teacher, Rachael has clearly and graciously challenged Christian institutions to live more faithfully as communities resistant to abuse and safe for survivors. What makes Rachael's voice so compelling is her steadfast Gospel convictions and sharp intellect. While conveying hard truths, she holds to a hope that the way of Christ offers persons and systems a response to abuse through transparency, accountability, repair and freedom. Rachael Denhollander

Rachael Denhollander is an advocate and educator who became known internationally as the first woman to file a police report and speak publicly against Larry Nassar, one of the most prolific sexual abusers in recorded history. As a result of her activism, over 250 women came forward as survivors of Nassar’s abuse, leading to his life imprisonment. In 2018 she was named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World. Rachael holds a Juris Doctorate from Oak Brook College of Law and is a member of the California Bar Association. She, along with her husband Jacob, live in Louisville, Kentucky with their three (soon to be four!) young children.

Part II

JESUS + The Church: Indispensable Parts

July 6–7, 2018

At JESUS + The Church: Indispensable Parts (Part II), our goal was to promote the flourishing of everyday Christians as prophets, priests, and kings. We pay special attention to women in the household of faith, acknowledging their often minimized role in church and society. Both audio and video recordings of the conference are posted below.

But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.
